In the early morning of April 6th, 2009 a devastating and deadly earthquake struck the ancient city of L’Aquila, Italy. Over 11,000 buildings were damaged or destroyed, more than 1,500 people were injured, over 60,000 people were left homeless and 308 people died…20 of them children.  The next morning Joe Leone Introna of Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey saw the images of the destruction on television and decided to do something to help.

Joe spent the next year of his life traveling across America raising funds for the victims of the earthquake.  He visited Italy three times to deliver desperately needed day-to-day items to the people of L’Aquila living in the “tent cities”.  This is the true, inspiring and moving story of one man’s “Journey of Hope” to help those in need, exemplifying the triumph of the human spirit.
